Rory has been becoming much more irrational and aggresively violent. Also, in the episode “Let’s Kill Hitler” after witnessing River’s regeneration and being exposed to RAW TIME ENERGY for the first time, he begins to complain of a “banging in my head”, which Amy dismisses as Hitler in the closet. Also think back to “The God Complex”. Rory did not have a room. He was the only character they made a point to say did not have one. And when the Doctor looked into his room all he said was “Of course it was you.” and we hear the wailing of the TARDIS distress call in 4 repetitions. The only other time it has made this sound was when The Master stole it in series 3. Also, Rory is the first human that wasn’t surprised that the TARDIS was bigger on the inside.

becauseofdoctorwho:

This is actually a really big deal. I hadn’t noticed the parallel here, but when you think about it, everyone’s always telling 10 to change. Originally Rose wanted 9 back, and then he was the only one of the Doctors who had ever been hated, like in Midnight, but then at the very end he says “I don’t want to go”. Because even after everyone tried to make him change or wanted someone else, he wanted to stay exactly how he was. He seemed the most reluctant of the Doctors to regenerate.

Ok I’m done now. Sorry.

#you know why? #because this was the most human stage in the Doctor’s life #he had it rough #think of all the shit he had to put up with as Ten #all of the loss #and the pain #and the death #and destruction #all of that #on top of having these very human tendencies #these damn feelings #humany-woomany feelings that he had for the first time in oh-so-long #after being closed off and damaged after the Time War #and he was like this #with these human feelings #because of Rose freaking Tyler #who he loved #goddamnit #he loved her so much #so he couldn’t hate her for giving him these emotions #for healing him #for making him better by sacrificing herself#but then she had to leave him #and he was left with all of these human feelings #and he lost so many other people #and had to make so many agonizing decisions #and #bloody hell #you’d whine and angst too you know #and on top of all of that

Val: Oh, like you’re so special.

The Doctor: As it happens, yes I am.

And I feel like it’s one of the few times that we see the Doctor scared. Like really and truly frightened. Because this being has taken over his biggest weapon, his mind. The Doctor doesn’t carry guns or knives because his big Time Lord brain is his best weapon. And when that’s stripped from him, it scares him and it terrifies viewers because if the Doctor is scared and doesn’t know what’s going on, what hope do we have?
